Maybe it’s the ungodly amount of times I’ve seen J.J. Abrams new Star Trek movie in theaters now, or the fact that we here at the site have been all over this project since it’s inception 3 years ago, but I’ve begun to notice some similarities. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something felt oddly familiar… Thankfully, CollegeHumor came to the rescue. Now I can sleep easy knowing that my two favorite Sci-Fi franchises were born on the backs of the same centuries old arch-types. Kudos to the editor for managing to pull together enough of the released footage to make this video work. I’m sure there’ll be some sort of extended cut once the new Trek DVD hits shelves and they can really draw some line-by-line connections.
