"No Costume Envy Here..."
Clark Gregg was originally known on television for series like The West Wing and The New Adventures Of Old Christine, before becoming best known as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson in the Iron Man films and Thor.
Now the 50 year-old finally brings Coulson front in center along with Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and others altogether in the long-awaited adaptation of the Marvel comic The Avengers. Gregg shared his most exciting moment during the shooting of the film.
“It was the day I got the script, because I felt like this was not an achievable task,” Gregg believes, “As someone who writes sometimes and loves movies and watches a lot of them, I just didn’t think it was really feasible to have this many characters and have them all get to move forward and to have the story of them coming together and really work.”
“And if it did work with that many amazing superheroes and movie stars, I felt it unlikely that Agent Coulson would do anything but bring some super coffee to somebody,” he continues, “So when I read it and saw that it was my fanboy wet dream of an Avengers script, and that Coulson was a big part of it, that was the great day for me. I just drove around the street with the script giggling.”
Gregg talks about how he made the transition from sitcom to film.
“Very few people know this, but the CBS Tuesday comedy block is like the farm leagues for The Avengers,” Clark jokes, “It’s The Groundlings.”
Clark was asked if there was any costume envy going on, sharing the screen with so many actors as big superheroes.
“Well, I’m not going to lie,” Gregg says, “I think Agent Coulson could rock some of Agent Romanov’s catsuits. No, that’s being silly. But there’s certain times in the morning that I do wish I had some of the guardian armor to walk around in and, God knows, The Antlers Of

Gregg was also asked what his favorite video games were.
“I still rock some Asteroids,” Clark answers.
Clark also had this to say when asked what Olympic sport he believes Agent Coulson would participate in.
“I don’t know what Coulson’s event would be,” Gregg says, “Coulson would be on the basketball team.”
