Got sixty seconds? The new spot from genre auteur Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio and veterans Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson delivers. Though it offers little more that the first trailer, it’s replete with Tarantino trademarks. The funky Morricone track, a few whip-pans and what looks like at least one nod to Kubrick’s “Barry Lyndon”. As a first, Samuel L. Jackson graces us with his glowering visage. Add to this a few one-liners, and you’ve got a recipe fan-boys can drool over.

The film follows Jamie Foxx as Django, a freed slave who teams up with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) to hunt down Calvin Candie played by DiCaprio, a southern plantation owner with a huge bounty on his head. Django–“the ‘D” is silent”–seeks out his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) who was taken from his during a slave trade. Django, at the mercy of many, must decide between solidarity and survival, love and companionship. The film is due for a Christmas release.
