ArcLight Cinemas To Open New Location in Bethesda

ArcLight Cinemas is known for its diverse programming of art house, blockbuster and foreign films. Add to that reserved seating, gourmet food options and soon-to-be available beer in an enormous lobby. Only in Hollywood, you say? No longer! In celebration of it’s ten-year, the LA-based theatre chain has just announced that it plans to bring a new cineplex to Bethesda, Md. by 2014. Plans will be laid out later next year with an expected 14 screens to be built.

LOS ANGELES (June 5, 2012) – ArcLight Cinemas executed a lease today that will open a new location in Bethesda, MD, the company’s first theatre to be located beyond California. Construction on the theater in the Westfield Montgomery will begin in early 2013, with the grand opening set for 2014.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, ArcLight has helped redefine the movie-going experience by presenting films the way the filmmakers intended they be seen. It serves up a mix of programming that includes Hollywood blockbusters, art house fare, film exhibits and cult classics within a premier environment. Its signature amenities, such as reserved seating with print-at-home ticketing, “black box” auditoriums, commercial-free movies and gourmet food – from caramel corn to chicken sausage baguettes – have been embraced by its audiences.
“We’ve created a unique experience at ArcLight Cinemas and we want to share our love of film with movie lovers across the country,” said Chris Forman, CEO of ArcLight Cinemas. “Bethesda provides us with a great opportunity to build an ArcLight community on the East Coast and redefine the way people enjoy their movies.”
As an added amenity for 21 and older patrons, each theatre is designed with a designated auditorium and adjacent lounge where moviegoers may enjoy wine, beer and cocktails during select screenings. ArcLight’s membership program offers an online ticketing benefit in addition to offering other member-only rewards such as advanced notice for special films and events.
