In spite of the tragedy that be fell the midnight showing, The Dark Night Rises lead the box office this past weekend at $161 Million. Followed by Dreamwork Animation’s Ice Age: Continental Drift with $20.4 Million. In its third week of release, Sony’s The Amazing Spider-man entangled audiences in its web making an additional $10.9 Million.
Seth MacFarlane’s Ted holds steady at $10 Million. Pixar’s Brave followed at $6.02 million, with Magic Mike ($4.29 Mil ) and Oliver Stone’s The Savages ($3.4 Mil) and) narrowing the gap.
Rounding out the top ten are Tyler Perry’s Madea Witness Protection earned $2.25Mil , the critically acclaimed independents Moonrise Kingdom at $1.83 Mil and To Rome With Love, at $1.42 Mil.
