Famous boxing promoter Don King, now 81 years old (bet you didn’t know that), is now looking at not just boxing, but diplomacy. King wants to sponsor a boxing match in North Korea, with the express purpose, he says of,

“ . . . me thinking about Korea and feeling that Korea, that it should be one Korea,”

King said he contacted the new Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un, the son of former dictator Kim Jong-il, about the proposal, but that he has not received a response.

“I wrote a letter to Kim Jung Un and have we haven’t heard anything back . . .”

King said people like Nelson Mandela and Michael Jackson inspired him in his bid for peace. And though he has yet to hear a response, he says that his true goal is to use boxing to unify people, to bring them together.

“I’m not a boxing guy . . . I’m a guy that uses boxing as a catalyst to bring people together.”
