Archer is undeniably one of the funniest series on television right now. So you can imagine my reaction when I was told I would be meeting and interviewing the cast and creator. I’m pretty sure I was smiling like an idiot the entire time, despite my efforts to keep up a facade of professionalism.
This was my chance to have all my questions answered by the people who would know better than anyone else, and dignity be damned I was going to make the most of it!
Creator Adam Reed talked to us about some of his previous work, including Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo, and how it compares to working on Archer. He expressed pride in the success of his work but seemed grateful that he has been able to maintain relative anonymity despite it.
He remained tight lipped about the upcoming season, and deflected any question on the subject. Cast members H. Jon Benjamin (the voice of Archer), Aisha Tyler (Lana), and Amber Nash (Pam), told us what a joy the show was to work on, despite the fact that they record their parts on all different sides of the continent. The origin of Lana’s giant hands was explored (apparently it was the product of a drunken conversation between Reed and Tyler).
Before they were whisked away by the publicists we asked what everyone’s favorite part of making the show was. They all agreed that what really made it worth while was getting to know and bond with one another.
