I’ve always considered myself to be among the geekiest of the geeks; especially when it comes to movies (sci-fi in particular). So imagine my surprise and confusion the first time I arrived at San Diego Comic Con and realized that compared to most dorks, I know absolutely nothing!

I’m also used to seeing movies in their entirety BEFORE conducting interviews with the cast; that too is different here in the land of Vampires, Zombies, Hobbits and Heroes. Still, for most movies there are a plethora of released photos, scenes and of course multiple trailers that I could research on-line if for some strange reason I hadn’t seen the movie before an interview.

But going into the Elysium Press Conference here at the Con, I literally had nothing to go on other than a single still of a very bald, very buff Matt Damon, the rest of the cast list including Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Michael Shanks and Sharlto Coply, and of course familiarity with director Neill Blomkamp’s first film, District 9.

I figured that as usual I was missing something that all of the other ‘Friends of Kirk’ knew… but for once, that wasn’t the case. ALL that’s available for inquiring minds at this point is that one movie still of Matt. That’s it.
