Now here's a partnership to get excited about.  Acclaimed Filmmaker Abel Ferrara and the Film Annex have teamed up to create a web TV channel devoted to Ferrara.  The web channel will include information about his current and upcoming projects, as well as a place for Ferrara lovers to interact with the acclaimed filmmaker, even learning some of his filming techniques.

Ferrara is best know for his movies Bad Lueitenant, Driller Killer, King of New York, Body Snatchers, and The Funeral.  Many of his works are considered grindhouse and cult classics, but Ferrara also has more mainstream projects.  He worked on the Crime Story (TV) pilot, and two episodes of Miami Vice with Michael Mann.  Ferrara has received critical praise from Rogert Ebert, most noteably on Body Snatchers and Bad Lueitenant (one of the first NC-17 movies).  Bad Lueitenant was named by Martin Scorsese as one of his top ten movies of the '90s.  .

Film Annex Launches Web TV Channel for Acclaimed Filmmaker, Abel Ferrara

NEW YORK, May 24, 2010 – Film Annex, an online film distribution platform and Web TV Network, is pleased to announce the launch of www.AbelFerrara.com in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed American film director Abel Ferrara. Abel Ferrara TV is the newest addition to Film Annex’s Web TV network and will be broadcasting Ferrara’s videos, including excerpts from his films, news about his latest projects, and interviews with the filmmaker and other members of his creative team.

The Web TV will be updated regularly with correct information pertaining to the filmmaker’s current projects. Among them are JEKYLL & HYDE, starring 50 Cent and Forrest Whitaker, which is presently in pre-production and SHORT EYES, his Broadway debut based on the award winning play of Miguel Pinero and to be produced by Susan Batson. The casting process for both projects will be broadcasted to the public via this Web TV, enabling viewers to watch actors audition.

As he begins his fourth decade of movie making, Ferrara says, “We have been looking for a place, a home to express what we are doing and to avoid the misinformation found when we are not active on a website. With Francesco Rulli, the Founder of Film Annex, we hope to create a distribution platform for the work, both past and present, while actively interacting with our audience, collaborators and other filmmakers."

Abel Ferrara TV will not only inform viewers about the director’s latest projects but also create an opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to learn from Ferrara‘s filmmaking techniques. Viewers will be able to interact with Ferrara by commenting on videos and getting into discussions with the filmmaker. Stay tuned and online on www.AbelFerrara.com.
