District_10

I think it's safe to say that we here at the site really enjoyed ourselves at various showings of District 9. It's the kind of film that manages to totally kick your ass at an entertainment level while having an emotional journey and a scope that appears far larger than the boundaries of the image on screen. The film also manages to stand alone, quite brilliantly, against the usual summar fare of unoriginal ideas and contrived sequels. Having already doubled its production costs in box office, it seems as though Neil Blomkamp's sci-fi-experiment-that-could may have more legs than even he anticipated. When asked about whether he'd be interested in doing a sequel he appeared ready and willing to jump at the chance, "I would do anything to go back to the world of District 9 again. Or District 10." For those who haven't seen the film, I won't go into spoiler territory about the ending, but there is a definite universe out there that could be explored in a sequel. The film also has an incredible knack of both concluding itself, and leaving the door open, the way great sci-fi authors do, to more stories that may or may not exist beyond the minds of the readers/viewers. For those who have seen the film, what do you think? Do you want to take a trip back to the world of District 9 in the near future?
