This might be old news already, but just in case you haven’t seen them you should check out the two teaser trailers that have been posted on bbcamerican.com for next years’ Superman Reboot, Man of Steel.
It’s always hard to tell anything about a movie from a simple teaser but this one clearly shows us that they are going in a COMPLETELY different direction with the story this time. I suppose if you weren’t a fan of how they’ve been doing it up until now you’ll be very excited to see a bearded, hitchhiking Clark Kent fresh off a gig as a fisherman on some unnamed shore.
If you’re like me though, someone who thrives on that ‘All American good will triumph over evil if it stays true to itself and endures long enough’ story, you might be a little worried that the Batman and Superman sides of your plate are beginning to co-mingle a little too much.
I personally loved what Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh did with Superman Returns; but I know I’m in the minority on that one. But the truth is, we get dark and gritty from countless other stories and heroes. Clark Kent is our go-to boy scout reflecting the ideals and optimism of previous generations that I still aspire to and wish everyone else did as well. So the idea of corrupting his story and getting him all dirty makes me sad. But hey, let’s see what happens.
