MTV announced at Comic-Con today that they would renew the hit series for a third season.
A re-imagining of the Michael J Fox film, the series has proven popular among a teenage demgraphic and is a fan-favorite at Comic-Con this year. It’s drawn comparisons to other paranormal romances like Twilight and Vampire Diaries, but deals instead with Werewolves as a way of understanding the hellacious pack-mentality that is high-school.
Next season will double-up in length, with 24 new episodes. This is a first for MTV primetime who seems to be testing its staying-power among this demographic.
An exclusive press release detail the story behind Season three’s first episode here:
In the all-new episode on Monday, July 16, Scott and Stiles come up with a method to trap the new lizard-like shapeshifter, the Kanima, during a secret concert, while Allison’s mother devises a plan of her own to take care of Scott once and for all. Will everyone make it out alive? “Teen Wolf” airs Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Click here for a special sneak peek.
