Naomi Watts seems destined for an oscar nod in Oliver Hirschelberg’s (Downfall) new biopic Caught in Flight as the late Princess Diana, and early press photos show she’s a dead-ringer for the part. Too soon to judge? It didn’t stop many from setting their hopes high for other A-listers last year.
Both Meryl Streep’s performance as her Grouchiness, Margaret Thatcher, last year, and Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs were deemed oscar-worthy from inception, with Streep taking the Best Actress award away from Michele Williams in her own biopic as Marilyn Monroe. However, both films suffered from a great premise with a lackluster script. Hopefully, director Oliver Hirschelberg who profiled the final days of Adolf Hitler in Downfall can live up to the hype.
