Not more than 10 minutes after James Cameron’s Avatar preview finally hit the net, The Wolfman threw its hat in the ring. The trailer holds up rather well, despite the supposed troubles with the final film, and the cast alone should make this one a must-see. It was a ballsy move by Universal, and I think it may have just paid off. Check out the slew of new photos and our encode of the trailer below:

Even as the folks over at Apple Trailers scramble to figure out why nobody’s been able to watch the trailer that was supposed to appear at 10:00AM EST today, we here at TheCinemaSource would like to extend our own encode of the Avatar trailer along with a couple of brand new production stills that have made their way around the internet today. Sure the trailer is in Spanish, but there doesn’t appear to be any dialogue to speak of anyway. We will update this page as HD links become available.

I’ve honestly run out of things to say about The Twilight Saga: New Moon. I think Chris Weitz is a fantastic director and I’m chomping at the bit to see his full director’s cut of The Golden Compass, but nothing except the handful of glimpses at the end of this trailer make me think this film will be anything other than a giant cash cow. In lieu of any other derogatory remarks, I will instead use the brand new film synopsis as a way of breaching the gap before we get to the new trailer:

In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenally successful TWILIGHT series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as BELLA SWAN (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Trailer 2

Nine Based on the phenomenal Broadway show of the same name, this film is directed by Rob Marshall who helmed the Academy Award winning Chicago and boasts one of the strongest casts of any movie coming out this year. Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, and Fergie. No, I wasn’t joking about the Fergie part.

Prince of Persia This may be jumping the gun a little bit, especially since the film isn’t going to come out for another year, but this first look clip of Jerry Bruckheimer’s latest blockbuster in waiting starring Jake Gyllenhaal does seem to have life in it yet. Based on the popular video game franchise from Ubisoft, may we actually have our first decent video game to movie adaptation?

Surrogates The latest sci-fi flick starring Bruce Willis has him chasing people around as a superhuman android, while he sits at home safe and sound. Apparently androids are the way to go these days, and they’re being used for all aspects of people’s daily lives. That us, until people start getting murdered while plugged in. Sounds kind of like I, Robot meets The Matrix. Not a bad combination if I do say so myself.

Gamer Didn’t get enough frenetic action and camera angle mayhem from the brother’s earlier release this year, Crank: High Voltage? Well, here’s your chance at round 2 with the first trailer for their new movie starring Gerard Butler as a death row convict who’s part of a bloodbath gladiator-esque last man standing television program. If he wins, he gets his freedom… only one catch, he’s being controlled by a teenager.

The Princess and the Frog Well, all kneel to John Lasseter. The man made Pixar the single most critically successful film studio of the last century has been given the reigns to all of Disney’s animation division. His goal? To start making great 2D animated films again. It looks like they’ve already got their first winner…

The Hangover Early buzz has this movie making you roll in the aisle of your local theater in physical pain from laughter. I don’t know if any movie is capable of causing such a reaction, but these three are certainly talented enough to make it happen. With this red-band music video style trailer, they are slowly convincing me that it might be a Superbad level hit. Only time will tell…

Land of the Lost You’ve probably already made your mind up on this one. Either you like Will Ferrell or you don’t. This trailer isn’t going to change your mind, but it still looks like more interesting family entertainment than Brendan Fraser’s Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The Boat That Rocked This one took me completely by surprise. I had no idea that this movie was even being made, let alone with such an all-star British cast. It’s based on the true story of the birth of modern rock radio in the UK. They’ve also got Philip Semour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, and Kenneth Branagh. Final ruling: This one looks like waaay too much fun to pass up.

Whatever Works Here’s our first look at Woody Allen’s latest starring Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood. Is it worth seeing? Probably. Worth paying full price for? Not so much. As usual, I’m not the target audience for this movie so I really don’t have much worth saying about it.

Usually by the time the final trailer for a big movie greets the dawn the general consensus is that the potential audience has seen almost the entire film. Badly designed trailers can ruin a movie in 2 minutes just as easily as they can generate unfathomable amounts of hype. The fine line between revealing too much and exciting too little has been sharply tested today as Warnerbros. released their brand new Terminator Salvation trailer which clocks in at a whopping FOUR MINUTES of footage.

This is the kind of extended trailer normally reserved for ComiCon or Showest, something you show the advertisers as a way of getting across the tone and scope that the film is going for, not members of the future audience. In this case, it is the first real idea we’ve had as to what the storyline of this particular film is, and interestingly enough, 4 minutes seems like exactly the right amount of footage to convince you to bump this one to the top of your must-see summer movie list.

Sure a lot of it is stuff you’ve seen before, but the extra context gives it all the weight and scale that a gritty post-apocalyptic sci-fi blockbuster should be looking for. Does the fact that it takes them 4 minutes to make this movie actually look good comment on the quality of the film? I’ll leave that up to you. TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN TRAILER 2

The primary reason I didn’t include this little gem with the second Trailer Round-Up is because I wanted to have a little more space to address a disturbing trend with Warnerbros. marketing. It involves them getting to be a little too good at their jobs. You see, each and every time a Harry Potter movie is about to be released, the newest trailers look absolutely dynamite. They look intriguing, exciting, epic, and otherwise badass.

The films, on the other hand, haven’t managed to be any of those things since Prisoner of Askaban yet they still somehow make each one look better than the one before. It’s almost depressing how well they know how to milk the 5-minutes of good footage available to them and when the credits roll I am fairly certain that I will be sitting there with a disappointed blank expression on my face, for this, the 3rd time in a row. For the latest glimpse of their editing handiwork, feast your eyes below on the final trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

The Ugly Truth This may be one of the first times I will say that I liked an original trailer better than its second incarnation. The first preview had a lot more story to it, and gave the viewer a better sense of the plot. This is a nice collection of laughs, and the new footage is certainly welcome, but check out the original trailer too for a better idea of what’s going on. It still manages to be one of the less cringe inducing romantic comedy trailers out right now.

Angels and Demons Here we have the latest TV trailer for the film. “TV trailer” basically just means that it’s half as long as a normal preview and therefore perfect for the ADD generation. I don’t really know why TV Spots and TV Exclusives have suddenly gotten popular again after fading out of touch for a while but they seem to be back in full force. I guess for those of us who don’t watch TV, this is what YouTube’s for.

The Hurt Locker Sure there have been war movies. Sure there have been Middle East war movies. But as can be judged by this premiere trailer, The Hurt Locker is certainly going to stand out from the pack. Just the idea of following around a soldier who disarms the bombs that we only ever hear about when they blow up on the news is quite the powerful topic for a film and the early accolades already prove this to be one to look out for.

Next Day Air Yeah, I don’t really have much to say about this film other than Mos Def is the man and why doesn’t he get better work than this? Oh well. Cocaine laced comedy ensues.

Che Part 2 Did you guys see Che Part 1? Yeah me neither. But in case you have and are interested in the second half of Soderbergh’s 4 hour opus, here’s your first look at the next chunk of the life of Che Guevara as portrayed by Benicio Del Toro. There are rumors of potentially doing a third part now that the original film was split in half, but I just don’t see why everything needs to be a trilogy to begin with.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Okay, so this wasn’t worth a news article all by itself. Instead I’ll take the time out of this round-up to draw your attention to a new Wolverine clip courtesy of Papa John’s. If this isn’t good enough proof that you should wait on the finished SFX before writing off the new movie, I don’t know what is.

Armored What is with the generic one-word titles these days? They suck. They also cause a possibly interesting action flick to become a generic one in less than 5 seconds. “What are you going to see?” “Armored.” “What’s it about?” “Armored cars… but it’s got Lawrence Fishburne in it.” “Okay maybe it won’t completely suck.” Why do marketing campaigns want that to be the first conversation somebody has about their movie? Anyway, behold the generically explosion filled premiere trailer.

They Came from Upstairs I don’t think anything would save this movie. This trailer doesn’t help the case. At all. Such a waste of good money that could be funneled into, I don’t know, decent filmmaking. This smells of the worst side of Hollywood and family-entertainment that appeals to the absolute lowest common denominator.

The Girlfriend Experience Last, but certainly not least, we have yet another Soderbergh movie, this one starring Sasha Grey who is making her first non-porn acting debut. I really don’t have anything more to follow that so just watch the trailer and decide for yourself.

Ever since the stellar trailer hit a week or so ago, Where the Wild Things Are has needed no introduction. In light of this, I will only suggest strongly that you feast your eyes on the fantastic poster art below along with yet another official photo from the film above.
