why not run for office one day like Arnold did? “I think just because you can be politically involved doesn’t mean you necessarily should be involved in politics. I can affect and bring some attention to some things, but not have to make some compromises that you have to make [if you are actually in politics].” Clooney’s father [ex-TV News anchor] had a run at Congress back in their home state of Kentucky. “It was a great lesson of why I wouldn’t enter. I would rather be out there supporting people, and I think I can find focus on things that I think are important [and work effectively that way].”
Well, since he is involved and being very proactive one would think that some serious good is being done in the Darfur region for example. “No, nothing. Literally nothing. Chad has gotten worse. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I don’t really understand that. It really requires some sort of political discussion. It is rare, save the Scorsese/De Niro or now the Scorsese/DiCaprio pairings to see an actor and director work together so frequently. “To tell you the truth, I don’t like him; but he has a picture of me with some farm animals so I continue to work with him. The best things about working with him is that he is first and foremost one of the great filmmakers of his generation. Secondly, he is a really dear friend for the last 10 years. It is really fun when you get that combination. There is no bad side except that he’ll do things that I find myself stealing them from him, in other jobs. I have to send him apology letters.” This new collaboration with Soderbergh touches on Holocaust issues, which have come back into the public eye with the recent outburst of Mel Gibson. “I don’t know if they have all gone crazy, there are so many different sources (people have cameras on their phones), and its kind of funny how you never see sightings of UFO’s anymore, they don’t exist so much. So any mistakes are going to be on ... |
