Jessica Alba
Interview By: Zak Santucci
*Click Here For Another Interview with Jessica Alba
When I first found out I was interviewing Jessica Alba, I called up all my guy friends and said, “I know one sentence that can make you hate me.” They would
incredulously ask what that sentence was and I’d say, “I’m interviewing Jessica Alba.” Then they would reply with a sullen, morosely envious… “I hate you.”
Jessica Alba is gorgeous and has been ingrained into our psyche as such since that sexy little angel outfit in Idle Hands (while I’d say it was Camp Nowhere that did it for me, but that’s beside the point). However, after a few rounds of questions it
became pretty obvious that she’s not really thriving on being seen as a sex symbol. “Well, I don’t think I play super hot chicks. I just think it’s how they market a character that’s in a bathing suit. I mean, Ashley Scott (from Into the Blue is in a
bathing suit just as much as me, and she certainly has a lot more angles. And I’m the good one, but for some reason everybody’s sort of emphasizing me as being the sexy one. And I was like, ‘but I was the sweet one.’”
Then she seemed taken aback when asked how she kept that body.” She stumbled a bit at first and said “I guess just like anyone else does, I suppose… I work out, that’s really it. I don’t have a special diet, or a special food regiment or anything.” The natural follow up to our probing questions about her fantastic physique of course was her slight distaste that everyone harped on the stripping scene from Sin City instead of the emotional scenes with Bruce Willis. “All anybody talks about is the lasso and the chaps, and it’s a good visual, so I get it, but it’s certainly not why I did the movie.”
Even more in that vein is Jessica Alba’s selectivity with movies. While I’ve heard criticism of her that she doesn’t pick roles that show off her acting ability she mentioned, “I’m not going to try and artificially create a role where I gain weight or not wear make-up or screw up my hair so people see I’m a good actress.” And then she cited her new upcoming independent movie with Hayden Christensen, Awake. But more importantly is out of that came conversation of how busy Alba is these days. While we know three big roles in movies in one year seems pretty busy, she also mentioned the two movies she’s potentially producing (Sonic and A Beautiful Killer), the video game she’s been developing for the past year, the baby clothing line she’s making, and her two godsons.
More immediately she gives us a lot of reasons to see Into the Blue. Besides acknowledging the sexy scenes between Paul Walker and herself, they do bring up that there’s a lot of skin shown on both the female and male ...
