stunt guys.”
Long admires the fact that despite Willis’ star power, he still gives his best in everything he does. “For a guy that successful he could have easily just walked through it and kind of phoned it in…but he just cared to much about the stunts and the script,” Long says. “He cared a lot about the movie and just as a young actor that was really impressive [to me]. It was really inspiring to see him still caring after all this time.” Although Long and Willis had great chemistry while filming, Long admits they didn’t hang out socially save for one night at the premiere of Rocky Balboa. “I felt like his weird, little boy-toy date,” Long says recalling the awkward night. “It was the strangest situation… That was the one night we hung out and then he dropped me off and I was like do you want to do anything else afterwards? And he’s like uh, I got to get up early. It was like a weird date situation. I leaned in for a kiss and he was like uh, dude! I was like, ‘I totally misread those signs, I’m sorry. He was committed to making the scenes look as real as possible so a lot of running in place was involved in order to get his adrenaline pumping before the cameras started rolling. “I’m scared for my life through most of the movie,” says Long. “The difficult part was trying to make that real but also trying to be sarcastic and trade quips with him. It was hard balancing the two.” But jokes and sarcasm seem to just come naturally to Long, a fact that can sometimes get him into trouble. “My problem is always when I get nervous or have social anxiety I’ll start trying to make jokes,” he says. “I don’t censor myself very well. I don’t have a very good understanding of when to shut up and when to stop trying to do bits. I remember saying in the Tokyo press conference—they were asking what our favorite scenes were and I said mine was my full-on, passionate, erotic sex scene with Maggie Q’s character. ... |
