Ray Liotta has garnered a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most chillingly authentic actors. He first gained notice in 1986 when he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the Jonathan Demme film Something Wild.

Liotta’s popularity soon skyrocketed in 1990 when he played real-life mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s popular and critically-acclaimed Goodfellas. He has appeared in many other noteworthy films such as Field Of Dreams, Cop Land, Narc and the recently released Smokin’ Aces.

Ray’s also played the voice of main character Tommy Vercetti in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002 and won an Emmy for a guest role in the long-running NBC TV drama ER. Known mostly for playing menacing heavies in dramas and crime films, he now parlays that archetype into the comedy realm with a role in the new film Wild Hogs.

Liotta plays Jack, the ruthless leader of a biker gang known as the Del Fuegos that the middle-aged and suburban Wild Hogs cross paths with during a road trip together. He said he made great strides to use his chillingly true-to-life acting style to breathe life into the character.

“We went to great lengths to keep an authentic air about the Del Fuegos, because for someone like Jack, biking is not a hobby. It’s a way of life,” he notes, “Jack loves what he believes real bikers represent. So when these yuppies come into his bar, it definitely rubs him the wrong way.”

He states that he enjoyed playing his signature character in a comedy, as well as the opportunity to ride motorcycles in the film, despite his lack of experience with the latter.

“I’d actually never rode a motorcycle before,” Liotta says, “So I thought it would be cool to learn and that turned out to be very fun.”

Ray Liotta has plenty more under his belt for this year with several films completed and to be released. The first is the thriller Slow Burn, which premiered at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival and set for theatrical release April 13. The second is the drama Even Money, directed by Mark Rydell and co-stars the actor alongside Danny DeVito and Kim Basinger.

The third is the romantic comedy Comeback Season in which he plays Walter Pearce, a man who moves in next door with a local high school football hero after having an extramarital affair. Ray has also switched gears yet again with a fantasy film titled In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, which is also soon to be released later in the year.
