jaw dropping to see the results that occurred to his body and
health as the 30 day period progressed.
Of course there were some non-health related scenarios covered, such as putting a Christian into a Muslim community to live as a Muslim, moving two electricity junkies from their cozy lifestyles to an "eco-village" where the only power they could use was the power they generated by natural/environmental means, and sending a straight man to live with a gay roommate in San Francisco where he would encounter more gays in one day then he had met his entire life prior to the show.
After all the shows the participants came to new conclusions on whatever lifestyle change they took upon themselves for the pervious 30 days. Whether it meant accepting homosexuals and their sexual preference or
just changing some light bulbs to minimize the energy waste in the world, just about everyone underwent some profound change during the 30 days.
The only episode which failed in its goal was the binge drinking episode. The idea of this one was a middle aged mom was going to start drinking like her underage college daughter as a way to scare her daughter
straight. Well, the episode did portray a completely smashed mom and showed many dangers of alcoholism, but had little or no effect on the daughter. The daughter is actually caught on camera saying that the only way her mom's experiment would really work would be if the mom died drinking, which of course doesn't happen.
After watching this DVD I couldn't help wanting to watch more of them, but unfortunately only six episodes where ever created. The show is a great mix of reality/documentary television, which I really enjoyed. It's probably because I have a soft spot for watching anything that teaches me something new. After all, why wouldn't you want to watch something that is interesting and can teach you something? It's just a win-win pick.
DVD Grade: B+
