When did voyeurism become so popular?

I’ll admit I’m constantly distracted by the actions of those around me from the dog about to trip me to the homeless woman camped outside a nearby bank. I notice enough to get concerned when I don’t see her for a few days in a row. I also used to see my neighbor across the street lean as far as he could out his bathroom window when he snuck a smoke. Then I learned to close my blinds. If I could see him, well, you get where I’m going with this.

After Image takes the voyeur to a three tier level that makes no sense what-so-ever. John Mellencamp is the only man missing teeth who's still sexy but he can’t act for anything. It’s a music video without music lasting what seems like forever.

Plot summary is impossible here because I could not figure out what was going on beyond Mellencamp’s character moving from the city to Rochester to stay with his aging-alcoholic aunt (Louise Fletcher) who makes sandwiches for the somehow mentally challenged neighbor and has a deaf woman who sees images of upcoming deaths buy her groceries. Oh, and a killer is obsessed and following Mellencamp for a reason never explained. But is also the man in the constantly bathing, grocery shoppers head, also never explained.

How’s that for run-on and on and ninety-two minutes and subtitles for sign-language that I’m not even sure is accurate. At the end I just don’t understand. I don’t even know what Mellencamp’s character does. In the beginning he photo’s a death scene but then his camera is tossed and then he goes to Rochester and then dive right into confusion.

Buy Mellencamp’s albums, not his movies.
