he spends the entire season experiencing loss, ranging from control over his household to a vintage Yankees jersey to something of extreme significance: his wife. Because Larry split with his wife in real life, one would think the development would be handled with kid gloves. But this is Larry David, and with an increase in stakes comes a surprising increase in both humor and unorthodox tactics towards reclamation.
But maybe it’s not that surprising. The more Larry attempts to reclaim his losses, the more he inevitably screws up. It’s only when he quits trying to regain his past that he starts to develop a future. And though his “future” proves once again to be a hilarious development, it may be the most insightful turn in the show: what do you do when you lose everything? Rebuild.
