effects were more than the usual computer generated images, it was fun watching all the different ways to make sets, sounds and sequences come to life. The creation of the make up for Mrs. Ganush was one that stood out being that it was very minimal, but done in a way that turned Lorna Raver into a monstrous character. The only flaw to this otherwise impeccable feature is that it is hosted by Justin Long. Between segments we are subjected to having his shallow brand of ironic, egotistical humor - nauseating.
In my theatrical review, I said, “The small portion of the public thirsting for another brutal feast of bizarre horror with ridiculously comical scares will get a small snack to hold them over with this one.” Unfortunately for Drag Me To Hell the wait wasn’t very long since international audiences receive Dead Snow just weeks later, and more centralized Americans were gifted with Zombieland more recently. If the wait had been more elongated then this might have been considered a sufficient meal, rather then the pallet cleanser it has become. Don’t worry Sam Raimi, you still have Evil Dead 4 to reclaim your post as horror-comedy master.
