Surprise, surprise, after spending time with this innocent kid, whose ultimate desire and dream in life is to go to “The Baywatch,” because that’s where all the hot girls are, our two ruthless, deadly hit men start to like him. And they of course develop the requisite attraction to each other in spite of her supposed lesbian status. It seems Ben just has that effect on every lesbian he meets.
At this point you’re bored. Trust me, you’re bored. But in a movie-saving scene, Al Pacino shows up as the mob boss behind this whole mess and with a single cameo performance he manages to bring life back into this god awful story. In typical Pacino style he walks in, grabs the audience by the balls and doesn’t let go until the scene is over. That classic mixture of terror and delight that he is able to portray is unparalleled in movies today and is omnipresent throughout his time on screen.
Earlier in the film another modern day film legend popped in for a bit and helped to nudge the audience back into an interested state, Christopher Walken. While definitely not as gripping and exciting to watch as Pacino’s it’s still a definite highlight of the movie that makes it a hell of a lot more watchable.
All things considered it wasn’t THAT bad! My fellow movie critics really need to relax themselves a bit. It wasn’t fantastic but it also wasn’t root-canal either. Tomb Raider 2 – now THAT was root-canal!!! For potential movie goers though, it won’t change your life, but it might be a good date movie.
