well. It came off as very scripted and cheesy, like something you would see on an instructional video.

As a fan of film as a whole, Storyboard was an excellent feature. Being very simplistic, it takes scenes from the film and plays them below the storyboard drawings made to base the scenes upon. It might not sound like much but it was fun to see these extravagant and spectacular scenes as mere drawings. Inside the Action: A Conversation with Quentin Tarantino and Jet Li is… well exactly what it sounds like. They took the two men and two chairs and filmed them talking about the movie. Getting the producer’s and character’s feedback seems like a good idea on paper, but the two of them aren’t people who I could watch speak for a prolonged period of time.

This film had the best special feature of all though, an English audio option. As surprising as it may sound, not ever DVD released in America with a non-English language has this feature. It is very frustrating being that subtitles take away from the cinematic experience in my opinion. While focusing on the words at the bottom, it is easy to miss a beautiful shot or a quick expression that determines the mood for the rest of a scene. It is also easy to miss a big chunk of a conversation because they move very quickly at times.

Before watching the film, all I heard was that it was outstanding. I even check the percentage of approval on Rotten Tomatoes out of curiosity and it was at 95%. Not that I want to say that the movie is awful, but I don’t understand the praise it is getting. It is entertaining and beautiful: something definitely worth a purchase, but not something worth 95%. Maybe this is just a genre that is above my head, but it seems highly over-rated.
