[REC] the Making of was very interesting and actually discussed things that I’ve mentioned already like the like of music and the struggles of straying from traditional narrative film style to place the audience in an almost second person point of view. The only issue with it was that unlike the movie there was no English audio option and it was all subtitled. Not that subtitles make something bad, Let the Right One In was one of the best horror movies of the past ten years and Slumdog Millionaire was a cinematic masterpiece; they are just frustrating for legally blind critics.

Go buy it. That’s all I have to put in this conclusion, so just do it. If you like horror movies you’ll love these new approaches even if you’ve already seen Cloverfield because they are much better here and it is much more horrific than Cloverfield. I haven’t had the chance to see Quarantine but remakes rarely have the same effectiveness as their predecessors. Fans of film in general will get a kick out of it even if they don’t like horror films specifically. This was not one of my favorite horror films, but I have to say I loved it. For what it is, they could not have done anything any better.
