Trivia

• Since the film was shot in B&W, Hershey’s chocolate syrup stood in for blood. Guess they ran out for some ice cream between takes!

• Robert De Niro first read La Motta’s book in the early 1970’s and spent most of that decade convincing friend and collaborator Martin Scorsese to make it. (He shoulda broke a few knees…that’ll always get people to come around to your way of thinking!)
