a realization about why her son got out of their car is so emotionally raw and distressing you almost feel like it’s happening to someone you know. Equally as affecting is Elle Fanning’s reaction as a scared, confused child witnessing her mother break down.
Life’s winding road takes these characters unexpected places and forces them to face the unpleasant aspects of themselves. The way they deal with these aspects is most compelling, as is the way these fine actors deal with their characters’ dark moments. It is the main reason why Reservation Road is one you’ll want to travel.
