band of lego misfits is Evan, the 19 year old Latino party boi toy voiced by Wilson Cruz of Noah’s Arc and his life partner the very much older and irreverent Chuck voiced by an almost unrecognizable Alan Cumming. The character Cumming created for Chuck is so unique I had to imdb it to be sure it was him. These two are gold together. The things that spew forth from their lego mouths will have you laughing so hard you’ll have to rewind to catch the jokes you missed.
The indomitable Margaret Cho does show up mid season as the annoying but necessary fag hag, or ‘alternative lifestyle companion,’ as she prefers to be called, of the group; constantly falling in love with gay men who eventually flake on her giving her cause to attempt suicide over and over again. She blends perfectly in this world being a self proclaimed fag hag.
Describing Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in all the World, really doesn’t do justice to just how funny this show is. Every gay person in America should see this show (that is, as long as you’re prepared to laugh at yourselves), and of course all of our straight supporters and friends will probably enjoy it just as much.
The special features on the disc are fantastic. Thankfully they didn’t skimp when it came to interviews with the cast and behind-the-scenes booth recording; which I think are doubtless the best extras one could have. Also included are promos for other Logo programming aptly titles, ‘More Gay Crap,’ as well as 12 Digisodes which gives us more Rick & Steve fun.
There may only be 6 episodes in this First Season Collection, but I can almost guarantee that Season 2 is most assuredly on its way!
