The second feature is a featurette titled Birth of a Queen. It features a great interview with Stephan Elliott, who discusses his conception for the film and the process of making it, as well as the surprising impact the film has had on the world years later.
There are also four deleted scenes, three deleted from the final cut and one merely deleted from the international cut. While they add little to the story, they are amusing and often hilarious curiosities.
“Tidbits from the Set” is a fun little feature where you click on different parts of Mitzi and Felicia’s attire. Revealed are promo interviews, from the time of the movie’s filming, with various members of the cast and crew, including the film’s three stars.
“The Bus from Blooperville” is an often hilarious reel of outtakes. Rounding off the special features is Frocks, Frills, and Fotos, which contains the film’s poster and an assortment of gorgeously shot photo stills.
While the story tends to get a little insubstantial with the more dramatic elements, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is first and foremost an outlandishly stylish and fun comedy. Its great characters, hilarious, witty, and memorable dialogue, incredible performances, and colorful costumes and cinematography continue to make it a feel-good film that you’ll undeniably enjoy repeatedly regardless of your sexual orientation.
