Despite its highly unusual premise, The Blossoming Of Maximo Olivares works because of its many highly unique themes. While they all do not completely evenly balance themselves out, the film is a fascinating insight due to its portrayal of not only gay love, but young love, adult infatuation, and the choices between familial love and passionate love.
