Wedding Crashers

More and more I feel that new movies are limiting themselves to PG-13 ratings. Especially comedies that could be so much funnier if they only crossed the line a little bit more, and were rated R of course. Well, for those of you who feel this way, we’re in luck! Wedding Crashers is a curse worthy movie with lots of sex and nudity! Is it any good though?

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn team up again as wedding crashing divorce lawyers; they put up a different front every time they sneak themselves into a wedding. When they arrive to these gatherings of love, they make themselves seem vulnerable to children and amenable to marriage so that really hot women will take notice and throw themselves on top of them. They do everything from balloon making to dancing with ninety year old women, all in the name of hot steamy sex with flower girls. Of course, they run into one wedding that catches them off guard as one falls in love and the other is forced to play along. Now they must keep their disguises on for longer then ever anticipated.

A movie like this really lives up to its R rating. It’s great to see a movie that the teeny boppers have to think twice about seeing. I don’t know how many times I’m sitting in a PG-13 flick, and some group of twelve year olds scream with laughter as their lollipop juice splashes all over me, and I have to wonder why I am sitting through this film. Wedding Crashers is delightful already as a movie made for my age group without worrying about the young ones. No offense to the young ones, it is just that movies today are so pansy with their weak ratings that I find myself watching so many films that refuse to cross that barrier between kind hearted and just plain obscene.

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are a great couple, their deliveries are right on cue. The main thing is they had fun doing it, and it shows. Both characters always stay true to one another, and I think it is both their best comedic performances to date. The films energy is always high and never loses its funny touch like so many comedies do. It also has heart and never tries to be too obscene or to be over the top funny. With a PG-13 rating, a movie must usually compensate for its lack of obscenity and tries to be too funny and fails. When the film is rated R, it’s a different scenario, it’s an entirely different movie.

The only flaw I would have to point out is that it can’t prevent itself from a cliché ending. In the end, it still needs to please the audience and give ...
