A sequel to Donnie Darko is coming, and sooner than you think - it's set to start shooting on May 18th.
Called S. Darko, the movie will center around Donnie's little sister Samantha, now 18, who will still be played by Daveigh Chase of the first film. She and her best friend take a road trip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. (Why S. Darko? Why not just Samantha Darko?)
War of the Worlds' Justin Chatwin and Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick will also star.
Now for the inevitable question: no, Richard Kelly, who wrote and directed the first film, will not be involved in any capacity. In other words, it's a recipe for disaster - and come to think about it, even if he was involved, it'd still be a recipe for disaster. A sequel was obviously never meant to be made.
And yet I'm still really curious as to how it will turn out... |
