TMNT director Kevin Munroe has previously been quoted saying that he would love to direct a sequel, but the fate directly hinged on the box office of the first film.
Now, according to our spies, Munroe has begun actively developing the sequel and has held some preliminary meetings with the Hong Kong animation team that worked on TMNT.
Apparently the film is tracking very well in preview screenings, which has made the studio confident in the box office.
Considering how crowded this coming weekend is with new releases, anything is possible. On the one hand, if TMNT bombs, the studio probably won't think twice about pulling the plug. On the other hand, if the budget was reasonable enough, even a modest return could turn the turtles into a profitable franchise once again. |
