Tom Hanks and Ron Howard have both signed on to team up once again for Angels and Demons, a sequel to their 2006 blockbuster The Da Vinci Code.
No, that's not a typo - even though the Angels and Demons novel was originally a prequel to The Da Vinci Code, returning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman was hired last summer to turn it into a sequel. A potential strike by the Writers Guild could happen as early as October 31st, so Goldsman is currently scrambling to get a finalized shooting script finished.
Howard will also be scrambling: he just finished shooting Frost/Nixon with Michael Sheen and Frank Langella, and will oversee post-production on that film while filming Angels and Demons, which is slated to start shooting in February.
This time the story follows Robert Langdon (Hanks) as he uncovers a conspiracy and a hidden society and secrets in the Vatican and other stuff that sound a whole lot like The Da Vinci Code. The film is planning on hitting theaters December 2008. |
