Shooting commences next week on The Hurt Locker, an action/drama set in the current Iraq War. The script was written by journalist Mark Boal and is based on true events using recently declassified information.
Jeremy Renner (28 Weeks Later), Anthony Mackie (Half Nelson), and Brian Geraghty (Jarhead) all star, while Ralph Fiennes and Guy Pearce will also both appear. The film is directed by Strange Days's Kathryn Bigelow.
"We wanted to show the kinds of things that soldiers go through that you can't see on CNN," Boal, who in Iraq was embedded with a bomb squad, told the Hollywood Reporter. "And I don't mean that in a censorship-conspiracy way. I just mean the news doesn't actually put photographers in with units that are this elite." |
