Entertainment Weekly got the first look of the "Mark III" Iron Man suit in the May 2008 tentpole superhero flick Iron Man. You can check it out above (click on the thumbnail for a larger shot).
The film stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, a "billionaire industrialist" who invents an armor suit to help keep him alive - and fight bad guys, of course - after he survives an injury in Afghanistan. (Actually, he apparent invents three suits, hence the "Mark III.") Gwyneth Paltrow plays his assistant Pepper Potts, and Jon Favreau directs.
By the way, ever notice how Downey tends to draw on life experiences to play a drug user in more than a few of his films (Zodiac, A Scanner Darkly, etc.)? Apparently it extends to superhero movies -- in the comics, Stark had a drinking problem. |
