According to Slashfilm, Lucasfilm has filed six different titles to the MPAA for the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones film. The last one in particular gives away the basic plot (unless it's a complete red herring), so those of you wary of spoilers, beware:
Indiana Jones and the City of Gods
Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds
Indiana Jones and the Fourth Corner of the Earth
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Gold
Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Covenant
The first, Indiana Jones and the City of Gods, has been the working title of the film during shooting. I'd be happy with that, and most of these for that matter. The only two that seem particularly silly are "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and "The Fourth Corner of the Earth". Fourth corner? As opposed to the first three? "Fifth Corner" would almost make more sense, but still not quite.
Meanwhile, "Quest for the Covenant" has a very nice ring to it, but assuming it refers to the Ark, they already mentioned that in the title of the first movie. "Destroyer of Worlds" is lively but sounds a bit too much like Indiana Jones vs. Godzilla. That leaves "Lost City of Gold", which is pretty pulpy and cool, in my opinion. I'd really be happy with any - it means we're getting a new Indiana Jones movie, I mean, c'mon - but "City of Gods", "Lost City of Gold", and "Quest for the Covenant" are my three favorites. Frankly, while this seems to be a misinformation tactic by Lucasfilm, I don't think the filmmakers have decided yet, either.
