Two weeks after the end, here's one last treat from Comic-Con. On the 26th, I attended an Entertainment Weekly-sponsored panel on "Visionary Directors." It was basically a let's-shoot-the-breeze discussion with four of the most high-profile film directors working today: Judd Apatow (Knocked Up), Kevin Smith (Zack and Miri Make a Porno), Zack Snyder (300 and Watchmen) and Frank Miller (The Spirit). And as you might expect, it was highly entertaining.
Smith knows how to own a room, especially at Comic-Con. Apatow is comedy's biggest "it" director of the moment. Snyder is basically the comic book genre's Apatow. And Miller...well, Miller wasn't really paying attention to anything that was going on, which made him almost as funny as Smith and Apatow.
