By the tons. On June 6th, president of CBS Nina Tassler issued an open letter to the fans of Jericho, saying that their voices had been heard, and the show would be back for at least seven episodes next year; any more were dependent on how the show performed upon return. Jericho had been reborn.
Which leads us to the Comic-Con panel. (Sorry to the fans who didn't need to read all that.) On hand to speak to a packed crowd were four producers, as well as stars Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James, and Ashley Scott.

Overall, the panel consisted of everyone thanking the crowd of fans endlessly for literally allowing them to get their jobs back. James, who plays the mysterious Hawkins, is in real life a good-natured Brit; he explained how when he first got cast, he was worried that the show would become boring, because he'd have to do 22 episodes per season instead of England's usual 8. Instead, he ended up loving the experience; when Ulrich himself called about the show's surprise renewal, James said "we screamed like little girls."
Ulrich, who plays the prodigal-son hero Jake, echoed the sentiment, saying that working on the show "is being a little kid again. It's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun." Filming some of the more action-packed set pieces filled him with "a palpable glee."
Of course, there was more to the panel than simple platitudes about how great the show is. The upcoming seven episodes are clearly a do-or-die situation, and if the viewers don't show up, the fans might be left hanging all over again. When somebody in the audience asked if there was a contingency plan to provide closure at the end of the seven episodes, executive producer Carol Barbee said there was not. "We don't have a plan to wrap it up at the end of the seventh episode," she said. And if the show gets canceled again? She basically brushed the question aside. "We will find a way to close
