Ridley Scott and several members of the cast and crew of Blade Runner were on hand to announce the impending release of Blade Runner: The Final Cut in theaters and on DVD. With a box set that features 5 different versions of the film and a 3.5 hour documentary, this looks to be the definitive cut of a movie that’s no stranger to controversy.

Even though Scott released a Director’s Cut of the film a few years ago, The Final Cut has a few extras that make it worthy of a theatrical release, including a digitally enhanced soundtrack and some never-before-seen footage. While Blade Runner is often thought of as the seminal sci-fi flick, the controversy surrounding the original version and the one Scott intended to make has put the film in an odd position in history.
The Final Cut is said to be the film Scott always dreamed Blade Runner could be, and judging from the gushing panel members, it’s every sci-fi fans wet dream. |
