I adore the X-Men and think Batman is one ridiculously cool guy, but when you get farther on down the line of superheroes I tend to lose track. That's why I feel somewhat in the dark about the magnitude of this bit of news that AICN recently broke: Samuel L. Jackson will appear in the upcoming Iron Man flick as fellow Marvel superhero Nick Fury.
Now, Iron Man the movie stars Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow and is directed by Jon Favreau. Iron Man the character I know very little about. And Nick Fury, I know next to nothing. According to other sources online, he was once a World War II veteran and in his present incarnation is sort of a super-spy hero.
There's also the possibility based on the success of Iron Man that Marvel could make a spin-off Nick Fury movie. Their development slate, in fact, even names a writer for the project, Andrew Marlowe (Hollow Man). |
