As we reported here before, rumors swirled around internet geek circles last week that comic-book character Galactus, the cosmic "entity" that is supposed to appear in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, would look, in the words of one fan, "way lame."
The story apparently stemmed from reports following an alleged test screening of the film in Seattle. It was said that Galactus would appear in the film as a giant "smoke cloud", as opposed to what he looks like in the comics, which is a giant dude in a funny-looking purple suit.
Well, now Fantastic Four studio Fox has spoken out against the mini-backlash. "There was never a Seattle test screening, period," they told Dark Horizons. "Moviegoers will have to wait to see Galactus in the movie, but fans definitely won't be disappointed."
Another connected rumor -- that Lawrence Fishburne would voice Galactus -- is also wrong. "Laurence Fishburne is officially the voice of the Silver Surfer and not the voice of Galactus, as some other fan sites have stated," the studio said. |
