20th Century Fox is planning on a live-action film based on the best-selling computer game of all time, The Sims.
Brian Lynch will write the script. Other stories have reported that he was one of the writers of Scary Movie 3, although I can't find any kind of official credit on that; suffice to say, he doesn't exactly seem like a Hollywood veteran.
So how do you make a movie based on a game about mundane life? SIMS studio head Rod Humble hints: "The SIMS has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."
Does that mean it's going to be some kind of trip to Charlie Kaufman-ville? One man discovers he can shape a miniature universe to his will? I guess we'll find out sooner or later. |
