already potent $20 million opening last weekend. It's charting the course that Made of Honor, which looks to climb to a mediocre $40 million, had hoped for.
Making a surprise appearance in the 10th spot was The Visitor, a successful independent film that has been scoring some solid limited-release business over the past month. The film, which stars longtime character actor Richard Jenkins, scored $687,000 from 224 theaters, off only 5.8% from last weekend. It's made $3.4 million so far; if the distributor continues to handle it with patience, it may crack $10 million or more. |
