Zack Snyder, deep into preproduction for the upcoming comic book opus Watchmen, apparently found the time to further solidify his long-term career prospects by signing onto direct The Illustrated Man.
The project is based on a book by Ray Bradbury which sounds oddly disjointed for a feature film: it consists of a number of unrelated stories told by a man whose tattoos come to life to tell the tales. No word yet on how many of the stories will be included in the film, or if they'll try to make them inter-related. There was, however, a previous film adaptation of the book, in 1969 and starring Rod Steiger.
Alex Tse, who wrote Watchmen for Snyder, will pen this as well. It's being set up at Warner Bros., with writer/director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) attached as a producer. |
