Watchmen continues to be one of the most highly anticipated movies among comic fanboys the world over, and why not? It's based on a wildly acclaimed 1980s graphic novel, it will be directed by Zack Snyder of 300, and it's influential enough to have a popular TV series rip off part of its storyline (that would be Heroes).
Casting rumors have been flying around like mad in anticipation for a formal announcement at this weekend's Comic-Con. The latest, courtesy of IESB.net, is that Matthew Goode will play Ozymandias, one of the heroes in the story, known for his intelligence and ruthlessness. Goode is unknown to most audiences, but he's shown remarkable range in his two most notable roles: the clueless Brit in Match Point and the sociopathic charmer in The Lookout.
Also (rumored to be) recently cast is Malin Ackerman as heroine Silk Spectre. She'll appear in the upcoming The Invasion, and was seen a few months ago as the girl Eric had a threesome with in Entourage.
Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup, and Jackie Earle Haley also supposedly have been cast. Again, all of this will most likely be confirmed (or not) at next week's comic book and movie geekfest Comic-Con.
