Whether this will in fact be more PAIN than GAIN is still to be determined, but here’s a new RED BAND TRAILER to help you decide.

Personally, I think this is the perfect film for Bay to direct. Everything and everyone in it looks gorgeous, the action is supposed to be over the top and ridiculous, which it is, the comedy is stupid funny and there isn’t a drop of substance to any of it… and that’s OK!

Congrats to Michael Bay on finally landing the perfect directing job!

I’m actually looking forward to this now.

Joe: Retaliation, the latest adaptation of a Stephenie Meyer penned novel, The Host and the star studded indie film, The Place Beyond the Pines starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, Ray Liota and newcomer Dane DeHaan.

We get some inside information from Ryan Gosling on how he dealt with a regretable character choice he made at the beginning of filming that director Derek Cianfrance forced him to stick with and we also hear from The Host co-star Max Irons as he explains how this alien invasion story differs from previous ones we’ve seen.

AICN got their hands on a user-submitted photo of Disney’s not-yet-unveiled Race to Witch Mountain poster, and after straightening it out (here’s the original shot), I like it.  A lot.  Straight from the classic adventure movie mold: speeding car!  Ominous mountain!  Frickin’ spaceship!

I already gave you my take on the movie when the trailer was released, but in general: it looks more action-packed than your average kid’s movie, and Dwayne Johnson is a fun actor.  He’s committed, has a good sense of humor, and deserves to be a movie star.

I think it could survive in the summer, but according to the poster, Disney’s keeping it away from heavy competition and opening it up on March 13th (a week after Watchmen, but that’s a hard-R, and a tougher sell than most fanboys are realizing).  Spring worked for Bridge to Terabithia, which also featured AnnaSophia Robb and made $82.2 million — but didn’t have a star the size of the former Rock working for it.

By that logic, Witch Mountain will make over $100 million, easy.  We’ll see how it works out.

Luckily, Race to Witch Mountain seems a heck of a lot cooler than The Game Plan; although the end product will no doubt be as squeaky-clean as Disney always is, they’re clearly marketing this as an action movie that both kids and adults can love.  And it’s working — the movie looks like a lot of fun.  You can check out a trailer below (courtesy of Yahoo, which has finally started allowing embeds).

I saw an alternate version of this trailer at Comic-Con, although a lot of the footage was different and the effects weren’t done.  Here we get a much clearer feel for the story.  Johnson’s in a role that doesn’t feel as polished as his others (and I mean that in a good way), and his rapport with the kids seems good.
