Chris Pratt is best known for his role on the TV series Parks And Recreation and Everwood, as well as in films like Moneyball, Zero Dark Thirty, The Five-Year Engagement, Her, and Delivery Man.
The 34 year-old’s latest role is as Emmett in The Lego Movie. In it, Emmett, an ordinary man in the Lego world is chosen to be ‘The Special’ to defeat Lord Business, played by Will Ferrell, who wants to take it over.
Pratt talked about the central role Emmett plays in the film’s story.
“This movie is Emmett’s journey as a character,” Chris explains, “It’s a very clear story for him. If he was ever, as an old man say, ‘Let me tell you the story of my life,’ he would just pop in The Lego Movie DVD and say, ‘This is the entire story of my life.’ And so, there wasn’t a lot of backstory, because you know exactly who he is. When he starts out, he’s a very sadly lonely character who doesn’t feel like anyone thinks that he’s special”
“And through the course of this movie, he’s given an opportunity to do something very extraordinary and test himself and prove that he can believe in himself and also become less lonely by inheriting this family of Master Builders,” he adds, “I didn’t have to have too much backstory, in terms of doofus with extraordinary things happening around him, I was like, ‘I know how to do with that. It’s happening in my real life.’”
was asked if he had any kids excited about the film.
Chris was asked if he has any kids who are excited about seeing The Lego Movie.
“I’ve got a 1 1/2 year old, so he’s a little young for Lego,” Pratt says, “But I got four nephews that recently went to Legoland, explored the park and having a real good time, so their ages are from 10 -15, so they’re huge Lego nuts, they’re huge fans. Their Christmas present

Pratt was then asked about his earliest memory of Lego.
“I like to make swords and weapons and whack people with them, that was my thing,” Chris recalls, “I’d hit my brother with a Lego sword and try to see how fast you could swing a Lego sword without it breaking because the force of swinging it would sometimes break it. The point is, even then I was really strong.”
