NEW DOC REVEALS THE VOICE-OVER ARTISTS BEHIND THE MIC… Over 100 Voice Talents Tell Their Tales in I Know That Voice.

Ah, the beauty of anonymity. It’s one of those things I’m sure Mr. Clooney or Ms. Jolie or any number of A-list stars would kill for now and then. Being able to do your craft without the annoyance of being paparazzi and tabloid fodder. But celebrity is the price you pay for being one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, right? Not necessarily.

Voice-over actors, no matter how big, can be more or less anonymous even at the top of the heap. I seriously doubt even the legendary Mel Blanc or Don LaFontaine ever had to use a secret exit from a hotel to avoid the press. Being a voice actor means Mickey or Bugs or Bart get to be the face for you. Until now.

The new documentary I Know That Voice, premiering November 6 at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, means to change all that. Over 100 actors, animators, directors, writers, agents and more were interviewed for this behind the scenes look at the voice-over side of the industry.

Produced by veteran VO actor John Di Maggio (Futurama, Wreck-It Ralph, and a deliciously deadpan portrayal of the Joker in DC’s Batman: Under the Red Hood), this doc offers a rare glimpse into what we so rarely get to see: the real talent behind our favorite animated characters talking about their craft, its history, and the many bumpy roads they took to get to where they are.

Among the actors interviewed are Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, yes, but most notorious for being the reigning Joker voice for over 20 years), Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson), Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh), June Foray (Rocky the Flying Squirrel, still acting at the age of 97!) and on-camera notables such as Hank Azaria, Seth Green, Marion Ross, Ed Asner and Breckin Meyer who have carved out their own niche in this off-screen community.
