Going to the movies seems like a pretty low key activity, right? You pay your ten bucks and spend the next couple of hours sitting in a darkened theater, chomping on buttered popcorn and Goobers. Not exactly a high energy way to spend your day.

But have you ever thought about the hours of work and painstaking attention to detail that go into making just one scene of that movie? Of course you haven’t, you ungrateful bum, but The Sundance Channel's series Anatomy of a Scene is here to show you.

The critically acclaimed series, Anatomy of a Scene returns April 20th at 9pm with Anatomy of a Scene: The United States of Leland. The series takes an in-depth look at how an individual scene is brought to life and the creative choices that inform every step of its progress. Each episode focuses on a new theatrical release and features interviews with individuals whose work is essential to the scene's success: from writers, directors and actors to cinematographers, production designers, composers and editors.

In its April 20th premiere, Anatomy of a Scene looks at Matthew Ryan Hoge's The United States of Leland, starring Kevin Spacey, Ryan Gosling, and Don Cheatle.

To celebrate the return of this amazing show, The Cinema Source and the Sundance Channel are giving away numerous Anatomy of a Scene prizes.
